(Adnkronos) – Last year, a private jet departed from the UK every six minutes, putting the country at the head of Europe in this special ranking of polluters. Many of these journeys have been described as “polluting and unnecessary” by Greenpeace, as they are so short that they could easily have been made by train. Analysis by Dutch environmental consultancy CE Delft also found that the number of private jets taking off from the UK increased by 75% between 2021 and 2022, reaching 90,256 flights, emitting 500,000 tonnes of CO2.
