Private Employees Can Be Blessed On Leave When Nataru, As Long As…

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah, invited private employees to take their leave during Christmas and New Year (Nataru).

Even so, Ida also appealed to employees not to travel during Nataru for the sake of consistent handling of Covid-19.

Ida still emphasized that those who will take Christmas-New Year’s leave should refrain from traveling. This appeal was given in line with the consideration of the Covid-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, private workers who have urgent reasons to travel are required to adhere to health protocols.

“We invite fellow workers or workers in the private sector to take their leave, but remember that we must continue to apply the 5M, namely wearing masks, washing hands with running water and soap or hand sanitizers, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds, and reducing mobility,” he said. Ida, in an official statement, Sunday (12/12/2021).

The labor authority said that leave is the right of workers or workers as stated in the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of PAN-RB Number 712 of 2021, Number 1 of 2021, and Number 3 of 2021.

“In the decree, it is explained that the 2021 Christmas Day joint leave will be abolished. We hope that this decision is truly guided by all of us,” said Ida.

Ida also explained that the three ministerial decrees are binding on ASN and BUMN employees. Meanwhile, leave for private employees or workers is regulated through work agreements, company regulations, or collective labor agreements.

According to him, until now his party views this as sufficient to regulate the issue of employee leave, including Christmas and New Year’s leave. Although the leave with Nataru has been cancelled, the Minister of Manpower hopes that the Christmas and New Year moments can trigger economic growth.

“We hope that the commemoration of Christmas Day and 2022 will be our shared moment to rise from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and keep each other safe so that there will be no more spikes in positive cases of Covid-19,” he concluded.

Furthermore, the government has also issued the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 66 of 2021 concerning Prevention and Control of Covid-19 at Christmas 2021 and New Year’s 2022 on Thursday. The regulation no longer regulates the prohibition of leave for employees.
