Prison closed after two robberies at SFR

Two of them are already in detention. The third, after being released, appears free before the court. A fourth, 16, will be tried in juvenile court.

Despite their uncomfortable situation, the three young people tried by the Chartres court do not seem traumatized. A broad smile on their lips, they seem happy to meet again, under the questioning gaze of two of the victims, still traumatized by the attacks they have suffered. An attitude which earned them a severe call to order from the president of the hearing.

Dozens of laptops stolen

According to the elements presented at the hearing, the Eurelian journey of which the four young people are suspected, from a difficult district of Le Mans (Sarthe), began on October 8, 2020, in Nogent-le-Rotrou. That day, they would have burst into the SFR store in the city center, masked, gloved and dressed in black. Reportedly, employees and customers are violently jostled while two of them are said to have guarded the door.

The thieves leave with dozens of cell phones. The next day, a new expedition is carried out. This time, it is the SFR store in Barjouville that is targeted.

“I lent my phone but I don’t know to whom”

The modus operandi is the same, with the same violence and the same determination. Four criminals leave as quickly as they arrived with, once again, a stock of telephones in their hands.

Very quickly alerted, the gendarmes cross the black Renault Clio of the suspects, near Thivars. They chase them. The gendarmes try to overtake them. They are hit by the car of the fugitives.

The chase leads them to Mignières, where the driver of the Clio loses control of his car, which crashes into a low wall.

“I was there by chance”

Three young people, aged 16 to 18, were arrested. A fourth, 21, managed to flee the hospital where, suffering from diabetes, he had been admitted following his arrest. He will be arrested a few weeks later.

Tall, strong, the eldest of the four does not seem to want to be told before the judges of the court. He denies being part of the gang.

“I was there by chance, but I was not with them”, he maintains with confidence, while he corresponds to the description given by the victims, and that his mobile phone has been limited, since the day before, on the same routes as those of his friends.
And above all, Amadou Bangoura has already been convicted for exactly the same facts. He is also serving a prison sentence for having robbed telephone shops.

At his side in the defendants’ box, Sankouba Savane, the driver of the car, claims not to have participated in the robbery of Nogent-le-Rotrou, while his mobile phone was limited to the place of the facts at the same time. “I lent my phone, but I don’t know who to,” he says.

The third, Sanoussy Cissé, who is considered free, justifies his misdeed “by a lack of money”. “I had debts,” he explains.

Me Vincent Rivierre, who defends the interests of the gendarmes whose car was struck, regrets the “casualty” of the defendants. “Despite the seriousness of the facts, they act as if it were a health walk, with a smile on their face,” remarks the lawyer.

Amadou Bangoura is sentenced to four years in prison with continued detention. Sankouba Savane is sentenced to thirty months, including eighteen months firm, and Sanoussy Cissé to thirty-six months, including one year firm. All phones have been recovered.
