Priscilla Presley: ‘I loved spoiling Elvis’ | Stars

entertainment">New York-born Priscilla lived with her parents in Germany, because of her father’s work as an air force pilot. “When Elvis was stationed in Germany during his stint in the military, I was invited to a party wherever he was. I knew immediately that he was the one for me and wanted to discover the world with him. If I wasn’t with him, I would cry.”

entertainment">The two eventually got married when she was 21 and he was 32. “I loved being his wife and spoiling him. Of course I was always on my guard, because just about every woman in the world wanted him. They acted shamelessly in front of me, just as if I didn’t exist. But at home we had created our own little world, where no one could disturb us. It was a nice time.”

entertainment">The love between Elvis and Priscilla was sealed by the arrival of daughter Lisa-Marie, but despite that great happiness the couple divorced in 1973. In 1977 ‘The King’ died at the age of 42. Excessive drug use and a very unhealthy diet would have contributed to this.

entertainment">“I look back fondly on our time together and cherish our beautiful grandchildren because he would have been so proud of them. I also really see him in them, both externally and internally. He has a phenomenal legacy and as a family we will make sure it stays that way,” Priscilla said.
