Lisa Marie Presley’s twin daughters, Harper and Finley, graduated from middle school on Friday and their grandmother, Priscilla Presley, attended the ceremony in Los Angeles. Priscilla, dressed in a black and white jacket over a white blouse, black pants and black boots, was joined by the twins’ father, Michael Lockwood. However, according to the Daily Mail, Priscilla remained separate from the rest of the family and left the event on her own, suggesting that the dust has not yet settled following a dispute over who should control Lisa Marie’s trust.
After a months-long legal battle, Priscilla, Michael and Lisa Marie’s daughter, Riley, who represented the twins in the estate battle, finally reached an agreement earlier this week regarding Lisa Marie’s estate. Lisa Marie died on Jan. 12 in Los Angeles at the age of 54. Priscilla had previously told ET that she was ready to move on after they struck a deal: “My family has resolved all confusion as it relates to our plea to the court and request for document interpretation after my daughter Lisa Marie’s untimely passing,” Priscilla said in a statement to ET. “Although some media identified such a plea as a lawsuit, I want to make clear that there was never any lawsuit filed against my beloved granddaughter.”
The twins’ graduation appeared to be a family affair, with Priscilla and Michael in attendance, but there was a noticeable absence — Riley Keough, the twins’ 33-year-old sister, did not attend the ceremony.
Coincidentally, the graduation took place just one day after TMZ reported that Priscilla’s request to be buried next to Elvis Presley at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee had been denied. Sources with direct knowledge told the outlet that the request was a non-starter and that Priscilla backed down from her request without much discussion. Elvis’ mother, Gladys, is buried to the right of him in the Meditation Garden, and his father, Vernon, is buried to the left of him, meaning that if Priscilla got her way, one of Elvis’ parents would have to move. Lisa Marie’s late son, Benjamin, who died in 2020, is also buried to the left of Vernon, with Lisa Marie buried next to him.
These events suggest that the Presley family is still dealing with significant issues, even after the resolution of the trust dispute. It remains to be seen how matters will play out in the future, but for now, the family is focused on celebrating Harper and Finley’s achievements.
