Depok City –
Deputy Chairman of the Syuro Council PKS Mohamad Sohibul Iman stated that his party would prioritize the politics of ideas. He also mentioned the existence of other parties who put forward political gimmicks in the form of ‘gemoy.’
Sohibul said this when giving a speech at the PKS National Campaign Kick Off event at the Bumi Wiyata Hotel, Depok, West Java, Sunday (26/11/2023). Initially he said he was pioneering political ideas to deal with current conditions.
“PKS pioneered this politics of ideas to overcome conditions that we did not expect, especially today. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we certainly cannot allow this situation, so PKS pioneered this politics of ideas to overcome conditions that we did not expect,” he said.
Furthermore, Sohibul also touched on the current political competition. He said that political competition now prioritizes mere gimmicks.
“Especially these days, ladies and gentlemen, I am very concerned, to win democracy, this democratic competition now has more gimmicks, now there are the terms ‘gemoy’, ‘santuy’,” he said.
He highlighted that it seemed as if those who could lead Indonesia were those who were ‘gemoy’. He also said that political gimmicks were unhealthy.
“It’s as if those who can lead this country are those who are cool, cool or cool, I don’t know either, Bib or Bib? Gemoy or cool? Gemoy or cool is certainly something that is not healthy,” he said.
Sohibul further said that in the future democracy in Indonesia must produce leaders who have the capacity to win political competition. Apart from that, Indonesia must be led by someone who can manage government.
“That’s why, ladies and gentlemen, in the future our democracy must be better, namely by producing leaders who on the one hand have the capacity to win battles. On the other hand, we are also sure that they have the capacity to manage the government,” he said.
