“What matters to me is the safety of the children.” For example, a resident of Meidoornstraat in Breda responded to the mobile camera that the municipality placed in the street on Sunday. This after an explosion on Friday night severely damaged his house and that of the neighbors. He calls it ‘nice’ that an eye is now being kept in this way.
He has now recovered from the shock. This is mainly because his children are doing well, who were sleeping upstairs at the time of the explosion. “If things had not gone well with the children, it would have been a completely different story,” he emphasizes.
The damage to his house is still visible on Sunday. The window that was blown out by the explosion is still boarded up. Everything will be set in motion on Monday to get things done. “Dark days in the summer”, the man jokes.
‘360 degree view’
The local police officer indicates on Sunday that the camera has a ‘360 degree view’. “It is not watched continuously, but everything is recorded. So as soon as it is necessary, we can view the images.”
According to him, the measure is mainly intended to give the neighborhood an extra sense of security. The same applies to the police officers and boas who have been doing extra surveillance in the street since the explosion. It is still unclear on Sunday how long the camera will be used.
