Traffic
The new arena on the Linzer Gugl is sold out, the national football team is playing there against Aiserbaijan. At almost the same time, a show is taking place in the Tips Arena. In order to avoid traffic chaos, the football association and organizers advise traveling by public transport.
Traffic jams, parked streets and meadows – the anger among the surrounding residents of the new arena on the Gugl was great in mid-March after the hit game of LASK against Salzburg. 18,000 spectators came to the stadium. Many parked incorrectly, for example in the bus lane of an access road, and the cars were towed away.
17,000 football fans expected
17,000 visitors are expected for the international match between Austria and Azerbaijan. The football association wants to avoid chaos and appeals to travel by public transport. Bus routes 17, 19, 46, 26 and 27 go directly to the stadium. In addition, push-in buses are planned from one hour before the start of the game, which will depart from Taubenmarkt and the main station.
Ticket entitles public use
If you have a ticket for the game, you can use public transport in Linz free of charge from 3.45 p.m. According to the football association, there are no parking spaces in the vicinity of the arena.
Almost at the same time as the football game, the Riverdance show is taking place in the nearby Tips Arena. The organizers also appeal to come by public transport.
Greens rebuffed with a free ticket across Upper Austria
The Greens spoke on Thursday of a “missed penalty” because their suggestion that the ticket for LASK games be valid as a public transport ticket throughout Upper Austria was rejected by black and blue in the relevant state parliament committee. That is incomprehensible, because a similar system would work perfectly in Salzburg.
