Sébastien, a resident of Clairvaux-les-Lacs and a group of parents have just launched the “Sauvons nos classes” collective. It all started with the announcement, by the Jura academic inspection, of the closure of two classes, at the start of the next school year, at the Clairvaux college. From twelve classes, two years ago, the school will switch to eight next September. That’s more than two classes per level. It is the decline in the quality of education that is feared.
More generally, the activists of this collective denounce the means allocated by the state to education. Our interlocutor explains that between 2022 and 2023, “144 million euros” disappeared from the national education budget. This would correspond to 3,000 fewer teaching posts. “We must mobilize to ensure that our national education remains of high quality, with quality reception and teaching,” explains Sébastien. And to continue: “if we constantly reduce budgets, we will end up having poor quality education”.
People wishing to participate in this mobilization are invited to join the movement and to participate in the rally which will be held this Saturday, March 18, at 11 a.m., in front of the Clairvaux-les-Lacs college. Other actions will follow. The collective wants to defend education and also take the opportunity to oppose the school map project which is announced, for the next school year, in the Jura.
