The drama occurred a little after 10 a.m. on the grounds of the company Galvanisation Québec, specializing in the hot-dip galvanizing of steel, on rue Jérémie-Pacaud.
According to the authorities, the work accident occurred during “a maneuver of loading steel beams on the platform of a semi-trailer”.

For some reason still unknown, one of the huge beams fell from the load before crashing into the worker, who is said to be an employee of a Galvanization Quebec subcontractor.
The victim had no chance.
Two investigators from the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) went to the site to conduct their investigation.
