Princeton University to Remove President Wilson from One of Its Schools Due to “Racist Politics and Opinions”

The 28th American president notably left the southern states to practice segregation by separating black employees of the ministries from their white colleagues.

Princeton University to withdraw name from the former president Woodrow Wilson of his school of international affairs announced the prestigious American university on Saturday June 27. “His racist policies and opinions make his name inappropriate for a school where students, staff and alumni must be fully involved in the fight against the scourge of racism”, the university president said in a statement after a vote by the board of directors.

Thomas Woodrow Wilson ruled the United States between 1913 and 1921. Abroad, the founding father of the League of Nations (ancestor of the United Nations) embodied the end of American isolationism. But in his country, the 28th President of the United States had allowed the southern states to practice segregation by separating black employees of ministries from their white colleagues. “He practiced segregation in the public service of this nation after years of desegregation, bringing America backwards”, again justified the president of Princeton.

Since the death of George Floyd, an African-American asphyxiated by a white police officer on May 25, the United States, where a part of the population is demonstrating against systemic racism, is in full self-examination and rethinking its relationship to their past racist. After the debunking of many statues, the desire to move away from the heritage of the Confederate South is gaining ground: the governor of Mississippi, a former very conservative slavery state, said on Saturday that he would not oppose withdrawing the so controversial Confederate standard that adorns the current flag of his state.
