Princeton Deletes 28th US President Name For Racism | Abroad

The Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs is now called the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, the board decided. His “racist mindset and policy make him an unwanted namesake,” the board of the University of New Jersey reported on Saturday.

Wilson headed the university from 1902 to 1910, then became Governor of New Jersey State and served as U.S. President on behalf of the Democrats from March 1913 to March 1921. In 1917, during his presidency, he decided that the US should join the Allied side during World War I.

“Wilson’s racism was pronounced and consistent, even for the customs of his time,” said Princeton Executive College President Christopher L. Eisgruber, in a statement. “He reintroduced racial segregation to the public services after racially integrated decades. As a result, America was thrown back into its struggle for equality. Not only did he agree, but he contributed to the persistent habit of racism in this country, one that continues to harm us to this day. ”
