Princess Amalia has already been called up to get the jab. The others have not yet, but they would like to be vaccinated, according to the king and queen. The vaccination has been discussed within the family. Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane have “made it very clear that it was their decision, in consultation with us.”
“All three are very eager to contribute to the front against that terrible virus that has gripped us for almost a year and a half,” said the king in a conversation with the press. “And the more people are vaccinated, the better it is. You do not vaccinate for yourself but for your fellow man, so that we as a society can open again.”
The king stressed that it is not his position to convince people to take the vaccine. “People can decide for themselves. As a family, we have followed the advice wholeheartedly.”
17-year-old Amalia, 16-year-old Alexia and 14-year-old Ariane are all eligible for a shot. Amalia and Alexia can decide independently about their vaccination, because they are older than 16. In principle, Ariane decides together with her parents. If they do not want the child to be vaccinated, while the child does want it, then the wish of the child is decisive.
