On November 16, 2022, the fashion giant published Balenciaga an advertising campaign called «Balenciaga gift shop».
The images used in this campaign show children posing with teddy bears wearing BDSM accessories.
Now they sport the prince!
Shortly after the campaign was released, the criticism against the fashion house completely subsided and several people are now taking to social media, where they post that they are burning, smashing and destroying the fashion house’s clothes, bags and shoes.
Several influential people also jumped into the heated debate, including Princess Madeleine (40) of Swedenwho also aired his thoughts in an Instagram post.
The Swedish newspaper reports it The Espresso.
He broke royal etiquette
“I am shocked and disgusted that children are being used in a sexual context. The use of ‘bondage bears’ is an implicit reference to the sexualisation of children and the paedophile world. This is NOT OK,” wrote Princess Madeleine and allo at the same time it has encouraged more people to take a stand;
“We need to send a message to companies looking to make money off of these images. A teddy bear is supposed to comfort a child and make them smile.”
Appeared in pig clothes
The sister-in-law disagrees
While Princess Madeleine is clear in her case, not all members of the Swedish royal family are as critical as she is.
Now it turns out that Princess Sofia (38) was photographed with an envelope from the controversial fashion house last week.
The princess was photographed attending a Global Child workshop at the castle on Dec. 1, and many are now reacting strongly to the princess wearing the Balenciaga bag at such an event.
The Global Child Forum is a Swedish non-profit foundation that brings together global leaders from business, civil society, academia and government to spur action for social change on children’s rights, in stark contrast to the criticisms surrounding the fashion house.
The Espresso she has been in contact with court information officer Margareta Thorgren, who says she would not comment on the incident.
