Princess of Wales Catherine Middleton has shared a new photo of herself from her early childhood, urging others to do the same.
Catherine posted on Twitter, on Saturday, a picture of her as a baby in her father’s arms, and said that the pictures of this early age encourage people to talk about childhood, as “it draws smiles on the lips and evokes beautiful memories as well.”
This step comes within the framework of a new campaign launched by the Princess, which highlights the importance of the early childhood years in shaping a person’s life in the future.
The campaign has been described as the Princess of Wales’ “achievement” to which she is dedicated.
In the published photo, the child, Catherine, is trying to mess with her little hands in the face of her father, Michael Middleton. The princess commented on the photo, saying, “Faces are the best toys in children’s eyes.”
It is worth noting that Catherine Middleton is the mother of three young children.
In a series of tweets, the Princess of Wales wrote: “This weekend we hope you all spent time with your friends, family, colleagues and communities talking about your early childhood years and how they shaped your later life.”
Catherine added, “I hope that you will do the same as me and publish pictures of you when you are under the age of five, so that those pictures enrich your conversations about those years, in addition to the fruits that will bring smiles and stir up memories.”
The Early Childhood Years Campaign aims to raise public awareness of the importance of the first five years of a person’s life in terms of both his physical and psychological health later on.
And royal sources said that the Princess of Wales, while carrying out her royal duties, recognized the fact that the difficulties that people suffer in terms of mental health and addiction usually trace their roots back to their early childhood years. This prompted the princess to take a decision to highlight the importance of a happy and healthy childhood on human life later on.
Launching the campaign earlier this week, Catherine Middleton wrote in an open letter that not enough light has been shed on the first five years of a person’s life and their importance in shaping later life, and she is determined to change that.
In a video recorded last month and posted on YouTube, Katherine Middleton told broadcaster Roman Kemp: “It’s like building a house – without strong foundations… Without that kind of solid beginning in life, you can’t build a building later in life.”
The Princess of Wales added, “Building healthy and strong relationships in a child’s life is of paramount importance… Raising children these days is a difficult task, but love makes the difference.”
A number of celebrities and public figures responded to the call of the Princess of Wales, publishing pictures of them during their early childhood years. Many praised Catherine’s initiative and commented on the similarities between her in her childhood and her third son, Prince Louis.
