Princess Märtha Louise and Fiancé Durek Verrett Open Up About Love and Racism for Gurus Magazine Interview

In a new interview with the magazine Gurus Princess Märtha Louise (51) and fiance Durek Verrett (48) open up about love, racism and how he met his fiance’s daughters, among other things.

Durek Verrett has previously been open about the fact that he has been in relationships with both men and women. The couple express to the magazine that the royal family accepted Verrett’s sexuality from the start, and emphasize that “love is love”.

When Verrett met his fiancé’s daughters, Maud Angelica (19), Leah Isadora (18) and Emma Tallulah (14), for the first time, he was introduced as his mother’s “gay friend”.

There was another reason for that, explains the princess.

– I introduced him as my gay friend. We took them to Universal Studios and they met him without the pressure of us dating. They got a good note, and it was so beautiful, Princess Märtha Louise tells Gurus.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Princess Märtha Louise’s manager, Carina Scheele Carlsen, who states that they have no comment on the matter.

Dagbladet has been in contact with Durek Verrett’s manager, Simon Valvik, who says that Verrett has no comment on the matter.

Verrett, for his part, describes what he thought about a potential relationship with not only a woman with children, but with a royal.

Compares himself to Märtha

– I met her children as her gay friend, but I got to build a relationship with each one of them, Verrett explains.

Further in the interview, Verrett pays tribute to King Harald for having taken a hard line against the racism Verrett says he experienced.

This strengthened the relationship with the princess, says Verrett.

– The fact that he said that made me gain much more respect and was happy for Märtha and me.

Engaged

It was in June last year that the couple were able to share the news that they had become engaged.

The royal house also published the following greetings to the married couple:

“His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen send their heartiest congratulations to Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett on the occasion of their engagement, and wish them all the best in the future”.

When the wedding will take place is currently unknown.
