“As a queen, it is not easy to talk about child sexual abuse,” she said. “I’ve talked about it for the past two decades and I have to admit that I’m often pessimistic about prospects for progress.” Still, Silvia keeps talking about it, she said at the end of her speech. “Because of my grandchildren and yours I have to keep going.”
“My mother is my heroine. She is a tireless advocate for an end to the sexual abuse and exploitation of children,” Madde wrote. “This week she speaks at an event at the UN General Assembly and urges world leaders to continue the fight against child sexual abuse and exploitation on the Internet and beyond.”
Madeleine posted a photo of a smiling Queen Silvia with a girl on her lap with her text. The princess calls on everyone to follow Silvia’s example and fight for children’s rights. “All children deserve to benefit from the power of the community. We must work together to protect children on the Internet,” writes the Swedish royal.
