Kate met members of the Irish Guards at a training area on Salisbury Plain. The exercise simulated a situation where soldiers from the first battalion came under enemy fire and one of them suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
Comrades evacuated the wounded man, and Kate then assisted Sergeant Jodie Newell in his treatment. “We showed her how we assess the condition of the wounded and how we treat,” Jodie Newell told Reuters.
“So far we’ve mostly only seen her with William, but of course it’s great to see her here as our new colonel,” said Sergeant Jack Griffiths.
However, it should be noted that Kate was not expected to undergo a classic military drill during her training. For example, she moved around the simulated battlefield without a helmet, and part of the program included a short introduction to the functioning of the unit and also to some military realities.
