Princess Eugenie’s baby August has “turned royal history upside down” for the queen | Royal

Princess Eugenie: Buckingham Palace announces her son’s name

August Philip Hawke was born on February 9, which was the 19th anniversary of the death of Princess Margaret. The queen’s sister died of a stroke at age 71, just weeks before the queen mother in what was a very sad period for royalty. This means that for the Queen and other members of the family, this new birth has transformed this day of sadness and mourning into one of joy.

Pod Save the Queen is hosted by Ann Gripper and features the Daily Mirror’s actual editor Russell Myers.

Myers said after the baby announced: “They also reminded me that it was the day Princess Margaret died, so in terms of true history, it’s turned upside down.

“It has become a day for a happy occasion.”

Eugenie and Jack revealed the baby’s name yesterday along with the first proper baby photos, following a black and white hand snap earlier.

The couple defied precedent to choose August’s unusual name, but the bookies nailed the fact that Prince Philip was to receive a tribute in the name.

One of August’s middle names is Philip, indicating the high esteem Eugenie has for her grandfather.

It’s particularly poignant at the moment, given that the Duke of Edinburgh is currently in hospital, amid fears for the 99-year-old’s health.

Yesterday, Prince Charles visited his father in the hospital, which is only allowed in “exceptional circumstances”, according to the guidelines of the King Edward VI Hospital.

The Prince of Wales is believed to have driven from Highgrove House in Gloucestershire and returned for the visit.

Buckingham Palace said earlier in the week that the duke’s admission to the hospital was just a “precaution.”

The photos of the baby posted on Instagram were taken by the Portland Hospital midwife Eugenie, who visited the couple at their home to discharge their baby from the hospital.

They showed August wrapped in blue cloth, held by his excited parents.

Twelve days ago, August was born at 8:55 am, weighed 8lbs 1oz, and the family was released from the hospital a few days later.

Portland Hospital, where Eugenie chose to have her baby, was previously her mother Sarah Ferguson’s choice and where she was born herself.

The high-end private hospital in London has an average maternity stay price of £ 20,000, but can cost up to £ 500,000 with all the added luxuries.

Some of the benefits include a fine dinner served on silver platters, a photographer available to capture the moment, if you wish, and a gift of expensive gifts when you leave.

The couple have taken their little one to Frogmore Cottage, the WIndsor residence that belongs to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who have agreed to let the prince’s cousin use it in their absence.

The property was recently renovated with a baby in mind, making it perfect for the trio.

August is the first grandson of the Duke and Duchess of York and the ninth great-grandson of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
