Starting Thursday, six pieces of Princess Diana’s clothing went on display in Hong Kong, including a yellow jacket with gold buttons that the princess wore during her visit to the former British colony in 1989, before it was put up for auction in June. .
The exhibition, which includes the Princess of Wales’ collection of dresses, shoes and bags, lasts for twelve days and is held in a shopping center in Hong Kong.
The pieces will later be exhibited in Ireland before being put up for auction on June 27.
Speaking to Agence France-Presse, Martin Nolan, director of Julien’s Auctions, which is based in California, said that the Princess of Wales, who died in a car accident in Paris in 1997, followed fashion ” every time she picked out an outfit and went out.”
The estimated price of the yellow jacket designed by Catherine Walker is $50,000, and the estimated price of a blue tulle evening dress printed with stars is set at $400,000.
Princess Diana wore this dress, designed by Murray Arbid, at the premiere of “The Phantom of the Opera” in 1986 in London’s West End.
Among the pieces on display are a silk and lace evening dress designed by Victor Edelstein, and a floral print dress designed by Catherine Walker that Diana wore in 1991.
Nolan said the clothes were “substantive pieces and topics of discussion” and continue to influence fans of the princess.
“People still love Diana as if she were with us today, which is amazing,” he said.
In 2023, Julien’s Auctions sold Princess Diana’s evening dress for a record $1.14 million.
