Princess Diana’s Clothing Exhibition in Hong Kong: Yellow Jacket Up for Auction

On Thursday, six pieces of Princess Diana’s clothing went on display in Hong Kong, including a yellow jacket with gold buttons that she wore when she visited the former British colony in 1989, before she was abducted. put up for auction on June 27.
The exhibition, which includes the Princess of Wales’ collection of dresses, shoes and bags, will last for twelve days in a shopping center in Hong Kong.
The pieces will later be exhibited in Ireland before being put up for auction.
Martin Nolan, director of California-based Julien’s Auctions, told Agence France-Presse: The Princess of Wales, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, followed fashion “every when she chose her clothes and went out.”
The estimated price of the yellow jacket designed by Catherine Walker is $50,000, and the estimated price of a blue tulle evening dress printed with stars is set at $400,000.
Princess Diana wore this dress, designed by Murray Arbid, at the premiere of the play “The Phantom of the Opera” in 1986 in London’s West End.
Among the pieces on display are a silk and lace evening dress designed by Victor Edelstein, and a floral print dress designed by Catherine Walker, worn by Diana in 1991.
Nolan said that the clothes are both “substantive pieces and topics of discussion” and continue to impress fans of the princess.
He said, “People still love Diana as if she were with us today, and that’s amazing.
In 2023, Julien’s Auctions sold Princess Diana’s evening dress for a record $1.14 million.
