Princess Cruises (www.princesscruises.de) has used the Corona-related forced break to equip seven more ships with the innovative MedallionClass technology. With the restart planned for the beginning of April next year, the entire fleet of the US shipping company will have the “smart” technology.
The central component is the OceanMedallion, a wearable that offers passengers and crew a variety of communication options. Against the background of the expanded security measures on board, the technology supports the shipping company’s comprehensive hygiene concept thanks to numerous contact-free functions and a wide range of personalized information.
In future, the embarkation and disembarkation process will be almost completely contactless. Necessary travel and health documents can be uploaded securely via the MedallionClass app in advance of the cruise. This avoids larger gatherings of guests during boarding. Thanks to the new technology, the mandatory safety exercise before setting out will also be individualized and thus rectified.
