According to the palace, Kate will recover from her abdominal surgery until at least Easter. Her presence at the inspection of the troops, as Colonel of the Irish Guards, would be her first scheduled duty as a working royal upon her return. According to the army, the ceremony will be the same as in other years, except that there will be slightly fewer officers in the parade now that Charles is not present.
Trooping the Color is an annual event that takes place on the Saturday before June 10, as a birthday celebration for the reigning monarch of the UK. Although Charles’ birthday is actually on November 14, it has been customary for some time not to change the date of the holiday.
