Princess Beatrix has tested positive for the coronavirus, the Government Information Service reports. She was tested because of mild cold complaints and the result was positive.
The 83-year-old princess is at home in isolation and, according to the RVD, adheres to the rules of life for people who have tested positive. “Persons who have been in close contact with Princess Beatrix have been informed,” said the RVD.
Beatrix said last week during a working visit to Curaçao that she has already had her booster shot. The princess spoke there with representatives from the medical sector who are directly involved in combating the corona crisis.
Due to the positive test result, the princess also misses the birthday of Princess Amalia, who will be eighteen next Tuesday. The next day she is appointed as a member of the Council of State. King Willem-Alexander, who is the official chairman of the government’s advisory body, will accompany her. Queen Máxima is also present. Amalia also gives a speech herself.
In June Beatrix had surgery to her ear. She was treated at the LUMC in Leiden because of a chronic inflammation in her left ear.
