Gemessy knows Beatrix well. They had the same teacher in Katinka van Rood and Beatrix lent work – very exceptionally – for an exhibition at Het Loo, which Gemessy organized about Van Rood’s work. “She is modest. She does not advertise her work”, the artist from The Hague knew. Beatrix in turn praised this professional. “She is very collegial, helping others where she can.”
Gemessy was not the only one of the artists whom the princess had encountered before. André van Lier reminded Beatrix that she had bought one of his works in 1985 and there were others along the route who could still tell exactly where and when they had encountered her. “She also comes well prepared. She sees the lines, knows how to look”, said Eppe de Haan after a short conversation at his work ‘Searching’.
