On Thursday evening, the Norwegian royal family invited Olympic and pair athletes to dinner at the Palace in the Great Dining Room.
A total of 86 practitioners were present, in addition to King Harald (85), Queen Sonja (84), Crown Prince Haakon (48), Crown Princess Mette-Marit (48), Princess Märtha Louise (50) and Princess Astrid (90) .
The latter sat in a wheelchair in the photos shared from the dinner. Sven Gj. Gjeruldsen, assistant communications manager at the Palace, tells Dagbladet why.
– Princess Astrid broke her femur earlier this winter and is training, he says, and adds:
– That was the reason why she used a wheelchair yesterday.
–
– Admirable
The 90-year-old princess is hailed by See and Hear royal house expert, Caroline Vagle.
– She has previously used to walk with a splint. The princess shows once again, something she has done all these years, that she stands for the Royal House, says Vagle.
As is well known, Astrid turned 90 on 12 February. Vagle finds it admirable that she still stands the way she does.

Princess Astrid has several official assignments each year, is chair of the board of Crown Princess Märtha’s Memorial Fund and has twelve protections that she follows up on, it is said on The Royal House websites.
Furthermore, it appears that through her work she has placed special emphasis on caring for the weak in society and on the inclusion of those who are a little different.
