Princess Amalia turned twenty on Thursday. On the occasion of her birthday, the Government Information Service shares a new photo of the princess.
The photo was taken in December 2022 at Noordeinde Palace. Amalia then had her picture taken with her father Willem-Alexander and grandmother Beatrix. These photos were already shared last January, on the occasion of Princess Beatrix’s birthday.
Amalia has been officially her father’s heir to the throne since her eighteenth birthday. If something happens to him, or he decides to abdicate, this means that the throne will go to Amalia.
Since then, the eldest daughter of Willem-Alexander and Máxima has taken on slightly more official duties. For example, she has a more prominent role on King’s Day and Budget Day. At the beginning of this year, Amalia and her parents made a long introductory visit to the Caribbean part of the Dutch kingdom.
The princess is currently in the second year of her Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) studies at the University of Amsterdam.
After the princess moved to Amsterdam to study, her parents announced in October last year that Amalia was living at home again due to threats. It is not known whether the princess will live in Amsterdam again this academic year, or somewhere else.
