The British fans had to wait an excruciatingly long time for it, but the film went on Thursday evening Top Gun: Maverick premiered in London. Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton were there, looking their Easter best. Although this time it was not Kate’s dress that attracted all the attention, but her husband’s shoes.

Prince William chose a subtle reference to the film. Dressed in a dark blue velvet tuxedo, he opted for a pair of comfortable loafers with a small airplane embroidered on them. The fighter plane referenced the original one used in the 1986 film.
The prince, who is also a helicopter pilot himself, visibly enjoyed the premiere in the presence of actor Tom Cruise, among others. Kate Middleton, William’s wife, was also present. She opted for a black fitted dress by French fashion house Roland Mouret, finished with a pair of black stilettos and a matching clutch.
