Prince William suddenly missed the memorial service for Greek King Constantine on Tuesday morning. According to British media, he had to cancel at the last minute for ‘personal reasons’.
Prince William’s sudden cancellation at King Constantine’s memorial service has nothing to do with Princess Catherine’s health. A source close to the royal family told Reuters this. Princess Catherine is not present at the commemoration because she is recovering from abdominal surgery. Kensington Palace says she is ‘doing well’.
“Unfortunately, the Prince of Wales cannot attend King Constantine’s memorial service this morning due to a personal matter,” the British court told media. William was due to give a speech at the memorial service of his godfather, the Greek king. William called the Greek royal family, who are attending the memorial service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, to let them know he could not attend.
The last Greek king Constantine died in January last year at the age of 82. He was king from 1964 to 1973, after which Greece became a republic. King Charles is currently not attending the memorial service at Windsor Castle due to his treatment for cancer. His wife, Queen Camilla, is there.
