Prince William Returns to Royal Duties After Kate Middleton’s Surgery
Prince William made a triumphant return to his royal duties on Wednesday after taking a brief hiatus to care for his wife, Kate Middleton, who recently underwent abdominal surgery. The 41-year-old Prince of Wales attended a gala fundraising dinner for London’s Air Ambulance Charity, where he also addressed photographers for the first time since Buckingham Palace announced his father, King Charles’, cancer diagnosis.
Expressing his gratitude for the support and well-wishes received during this challenging time, Prince William said, “We really appreciate everyone’s kind messages. Thank you.” Speaking at the podium, he took the opportunity to extend his thanks for the support shown towards Catherine and his father, saying, “It means a great deal to us all.”
In an attempt to lighten the mood, Prince William humorously remarked, “The past few weeks have had a rather medical focus, so I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all.” It was evident that he was eager to engage in some lighthearted socializing as he mingled with Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who attended the event. Although they did not have the chance to meet due to her mobility issues, the queen expressed her disappointment and invited Cruise for a special tour of Windsor Castle, followed by tea together.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020. During Harry’s recent visit, Meghan and their two children remained in California. It was reported that Harry stayed at a luxurious London hotel to demonstrate his ability to support himself financially, following Charles’ decision to strip him and Meghan of their tax-funded police protection after their departure from the royal family.
