“We only have ten years to save the planet,” said the Instagram account of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
They call it “the most prestigious global environmental awards in history.” The award is the result of two years of work by Prince William and the royal foundation of William and Kate. The goal is to find solutions that can change the planet by 2030. Over the next ten years, the £ 1 million prizes will be awarded to 50 solutions to environmental and climate problems. The five goals, ‘earthshots’, which William argues are:
- The protection of nature
- Clean Air
- Clean oceans
- A waste-free world
- Saving the climate
A jury of names such as Sir David Attenborough, Jack Ma, Shakira, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Prince William himself will select the laureates.
