Britain’s Prince William confirmed on Thursday that he received his first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, as the National Health Service expands its inoculation campaign to younger people.
The 38-year-old prince received his injection at the London Science Museum, one of the largest large-scale vaccination centers open in the country. His Twitter account posted a photo of the prince receiving the injection.
“On Tuesday I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine,” the prince tweeted. “To all who work in the vaccination campaign, thank you for all that you have done and continue to do.”
Britain last week opened its vaccination campaign to everyone aged 34 and over. The program has been gradually expanding to younger and younger groups since it began in December.
Other members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, have also been vaccinated at public inoculation sites to promote the campaign.
More than 70% of British adults have received at least one dose of any of the available vaccines.
