The relationship between William and Harry was not the best for a long time, and after the famous interview with u Oprah Winfrey additionally, it has deteriorated significantly. The Sussexs confessed to hitherto unknown details that went on outside the walls of Buckingham Palace. They accused the royal family of lack of support and racism (apparently in the palace people were asked what color their son Archie would be). William resented his brother and refused to comment on their statements. It turns out, however, that the disagreements between William and Harry were created years ago. It started when Harry got acquainted Meghan with family.

Prince William was not pleased with Meghan and Harry’s wedding
The royal family, both Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth II, and ksi William ¿ê William they were very happy that Harry finally found happiness and entered into a serious relationship. Meghan Markle was kindly received and, most importantly, accepted. Despite the ubiquitous sympathy for the American, Prince William did not expect that his younger brother would so quickly decide to marry his chosen one. After all, he, as heir to the throne, waited a decade with proposals. William’s reaction to the news of his brother’s wedding is described in the book “Battle of the Brothers. William, Harry and the Story of the Breakup of the Windsor Family.”
William was worried that his brother was getting involved in the relationship too quickly – when Harry started talking about an imminent marriage, he didn’t hesitate to tell him. “It all happens fairly quickly,” William said, addressing his brother doubtfully, “we read.
Prince William did not trust Meghan he had just met and during a conversation with his brother (which happened at the turn of 2016 and 2017) he said that belonging to the royal family is a very serious matter, so Harry must be sure of it.
William was unable to understand that Harry was considering marrying this still little known and not fully proven person just two years after they met. It seemed to be against his own rules […] William did this, of course, for the sake of the monarchy. All these years he had been checking whether Kate was fit for the role of the future queen. So Harry had a right to wonder if William was really after his personal happiness, or if again – and as always – he was only thinking about the good of “The Company”.
Due to William’s lack of positive reaction to the wedding, Harry decided to distance himself from his brother. Even pleas from his uncle, Charles Spencer (Princess Diana’s brother), didn’t make Harry change his mind. However, what William really meant was a lack of trust in Meghan.
William reportedly did not trust this little-known American, suspecting her of exuberant ambitions. “William told his brother that they knew nothing about her origins, about her intentions, about her true personality,” said Emily Andrews in “The Sun”.
William, however, never officially spoke of the conflict with his brother. He wanted to be loyal to him, even when he disagreed with his decisions.

But formally, apart from “The Company”, neither party revealed that there was a conflict in the background. In 2018, Meghan and Harry were officially engaged. It was then that it was decided that Meghan would join the Royal Foundation Forum, which was established to continue the work of Princess Diana. The Foundation mainly dealt with helping veterans and supporting development kids and nature protection. Meghan, famous for her feminist views, wanted to expand it with one more activity – women’s rights.
While both Kate, William and Harry were very pleased with Meghan’s ideas, considering them valid and worth considering, one of the journalists’ questions revealed what was happening behind the beautiful smiles of the family:
“Is there any disagreement between you as a family when you work together?” asked the question. Nervous laughter. Both women looked down, hair hiding their faces and probable real emotions. Harry looked for Meghan’s support and only William replied directly – “Oh yeah …”.
Meghan’s new ideas, which she wanted to weave into the foundation’s activities, became another reason for quarrels between the brothers. William couldn’t accept that “Ms Meghan Markle not only wanted to do good in the world – she wanted to radically change this world”.
