Prince William and Catherine arrive at St. Giles’ Cathedral for the second “coronation” of King Charles III in Scotland. There they attend a thanksgiving service where the Scottish crown jewels are displayed. For the occasion, the Princess of Wales wears a blue robe dress and Prince William opts for a traditional robe.
The thanksgiving service for King Charles in Scotland has begun. While royals from all over the world were invited to the coronation in London, the ceremony in Edinburgh is mainly attended by healthcare personnel. The British National Health Service exists exactly 75 years today. For the British royal family, this is the reason to fill the cathedral with people from healthcare. Kate Middleton and Prince William are now among the invited guests.

Kate is wearing a dress today that we saw earlier this year during the Easter service. She reused this royal blue robe dress from Catherine Walker for this special occasion in Scotland. However, her head wears a different headgear.

It comes as no surprise that the Princess of Wales likes to save and reuse garments. Although it is special that she takes this striking dress out of her wardrobe again after only a few months. In any case, this sustainable choice suits King Charles well. The British head of state regularly wears a piece of clothing several times.
An ode to Elizabeth
Catherine’s jewelry is special. Around her neck she wears the four-row pearl and diamond choker that she inherited from Queen Elizabeth II. The necklace was previously loaned to Princess Diana, and now the Princess of Wales is allowed to wear the beautiful heirloom again. She already wore the necklace at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September last year.
In her ears hang the Collingwood pearl earrings that were once presented to Princess Diana by jeweler Collingwood. After her death they are owned by Kate who wears them regularly.
