Prince died on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57. Five years after his disappearance, an unpublished album, entitled “Welcome 2 America”, will be released on July 30, the eponymous first title of which was unveiled this Thursday on streaming platforms.
This treasure, which dates from 2010, comes from the famous vault of the “Kid of Minneapolis”, nicknamed “The Vault”, which was in his studio in Paisley Park and which houses an incalculable number of demos, completed albums or in the process of being finalized, live recordings or collaborations. This disc will be the subject of a program on Sunday, “60 minutes”, on the American channel CBS which was able to listen exclusively to the twelve pieces that compose it. The deluxe boxed version will include the album and an unreleased full concert by Prince, accompanied by his famous band, New Power Generation, performed at the Forum in Los Angeles on April 28, 2011.
