Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Dies in Fighter Jet Crash: Saudi Royal Air Force Tragedy

Lord Arab Saudi, Talal bin Abdulaziz bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud died at the age of 62 years. His death was announced by the Saudi kingdom on Thursday (7/12) local time.

In a short statement reported by the official Saudi news agency, SPA, the Saudi kingdom said that funeral prayers would be held on Friday (8/12) at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh. The cause of the Saudi prince’s death was not stated.

However, reports in the Arab media, as reported Russia TodayFriday (8/12/2023), claimed the prince died in fighter jet crash.

Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz is the son of Prince Bandar and grandson of the first Saudi king, King Abdulaziz. Born in 1961, he was a lieutenant colonel in the Royal Saudi Air Force and served as assistant chief of intelligence at GIP, the Saudi intelligence agency, from 2004 to 2012.

Although the Saudi royal statement did not reveal the cause of his death, Lebanese news outlet Al Mashhad reported that the prince died when jet fighter F-15 the person he was riding crashed during training with the air force on Thursday (7/12) morning local time.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense Arab Saudi reported that one of the military’s F-15 fighter jets crashed while carrying out a training mission on Thursday (7/12) local time. All military crew members on board the fighter jet were confirmed dead. This is the second crash in a month involving a Saudi F-15 fighter jet.
