The UK remains suspended on news of Prince Philip’s state of health. The husband of Elizabeth II was transferred this Friday, March 5 to King Edward VII Hospital, in London, where he had been admitted in mid-February for an infection.
This new transfer, which took place in the morning, comes two days after the Duke of Edinburgh’s heart operation at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. He was admitted to this second London establishment, which has the largest specialized cardiovascular service in Europe, at the start of the week for cardiac examinations.
“After the successful surgery on the Duke of Edinburgh at St Bartholomew’s Hospital on Wednesday, His Royal Highness was transferred to King Edward VII Hospital this morning,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.
Hospitalized since February 16 as a “precaution” after feeling ill, Prince Philip, 99 years old, should remain convalescing at King Edward VII Hospital for several days in order to continue his treatment.
