Prince Philip again on front pages of British newspapers | British Prince Philip passed away

While the newspapers on Saturday opted for extensive tributes to the Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday, Sunday is mainly about the reactions to his death. The Telegraph places a large photo of Philip and son Prince Charles on the cover, accompanied by the first reaction that the British heir apparent gave on Saturday. “My dear daddy was a very special person … I will miss him enormously,” the newspaper headlines.

The Daily Mail shares the same quote on the front page. The magazine does, however, opt for a photo of Countess Sophie, the wife of Philip’s youngest child Prince Edward, who visited Elizabeth at Windsor Castle on Saturday. The Times and The Express also give the words of the grieving Charles a prominent place on their front pages.

The Daily Mirror believes that the reuniting of brothers Prince William and Harry at their grandfather’s funeral this Saturday is more important. “Banded in mourning,” is written in large letters on the cover. The relationship between the brothers is said to have come under strain since Harry’s step back into the British royal family and his recent allegations of racism over an unknown relative. Harry flies solo from America to the United Kingdom. Meghan is advised against coming because she is pregnant.
