Prince Nicholas of Greece and his wife, Princess Tatiana Blatnik, have ended their love story after 14 years of marriage, the royal house of Greece issued a statement. King Felipe VI’s cousin and his partner said ‘I do’ in August 2010, in a ceremony attended by several members of the Spanish royal family. Almost five decades later, both have decided to go their separate ways.
The second son of Ana María of Denmark and Constantine II of Greece, brother of Queen Emerita Sofía, and the Venezuelan with Slovenian and Swiss ancestry did not form a family, but over the years they shared several experiences and moments. In fact, mutual respect and appreciation for each other will continue to be one of the fundamental pillars in their relationship, which from now on will be friendly.

“Both express the difficulty of this decision, the deep appreciation and respect they have for each other, but also the love with which they have walked all these years,” the royal house of Greece indicated in a letter. “The same values of respect and understanding will form the basis of their relationship in the future, a relationship of deep and sincere friendship,” they stated in the statement in which they also ask for “respect and discretion.”

The love story of Prince Nicolás and Tatiana Blatnik began when they both met at the Gringo club in Gstaad (Switzerland) during their vacation. Shortly after, the two announced that they would walk down the aisle. Their wedding, held on August 25, 2010 on the Espetses Islands, was one of the great events in Greece, as it was the first wedding ceremony that the Greek country had experienced in 46 years, specifically, since the abolition of the monarchy. , in 1974.
Members of European royalty were present at the wedding, such as the then Queen Margaret II of Denmark, the princes of Sweden, Victoria, Magdalena and Carlos Felipe, William and Máxima of Holland and Haakon of Norway. Given their family connection, those who also attended their big day were Queen Sofía, the then princes of Asturias, now kings Felipe VI and Letizia, as well as the infantas Elena and Cristina.

After the ceremony, the newlyweds settled in London in a rental house located in the Chelsea neighborhood, where Nicolás worked in his father’s royal office and Tatiana served as publicist and right-hand woman to designer Diane von Fürstenberg. Shortly after, in 2014, the two moved to Athens. The then couple settled in the Greek capital, becoming the first princes to reside in Greece after the abolition of the monarchy, when King Constantine of Greece and Queen Anne Mary and her children went into exile.
Their life in Athens has been marked by discretion, as they rarely attended public events. Instead, they preferred to walk in nature or spend time at home with their friends. In recent years, Tatiana has focused her life on the Breathe project, which promotes mental health care and body harmony. For his part, Nicolás has focused on his passion for photographs, exhibiting in different galleries in London and Melbourne.
