In March this year was Prince Carl Philip (41) and Princess Sofia (36) parents for the third time, also this time to a little boy. Shortly afterwards, it was revealed that his name will be Julian Herbert Folke, and it did not take long before they proudly showed him on Kungahuset’s Instagram profile.

Christening attire 115 years old
Saturday morning at 12 it is ready for princess soap in Sweden, when Prince Julian will be baptized in spring water from Öland. This is, according to Swedish Aftonbladet, a tradition King Carl Gustaf started when his own children were baptized. Before this, royal children were baptized in water from the Jordan.
The christening attire of the little prince is 115 years old, and was first used by King Carl Gustaf’s father, Prince Gustaf Adolf, in 1906.
According to the Swedish newspaper After the baptism, the royal couple has been invited to a gathering at Drottningholm Castle, where the invited guests can see the day’s main character up close during the mingling.
Prince Julian is the first child in the series to be born without automatically becoming part of the royal family. In the autumn of 2019, the king made the decision to leave out all the grandchildren on the side of Prince Carl Philips and Princess Madeleine.
The purpose was to clarify who and how many will represent Sweden and the royal family, as well as who will take part in the apana.
Aftonbladet’s court expert Jenny Alexandersson says that the doctors and midwives who are present at royal births are always invited to the subsequent baptism.
However, one thing stands out this year: The number of representatives from the Riksdag and the government is few.
– The logical explanation for this is that Julian is not part of the royal house and you take it down a bit. Overall, the guest list reflects that they want to tone down the official part of the baptism, says Jenny Alexandersson to her own newspaper.

The little prince weighed 3220 grams and was 49 centimeters long at birth.
– We are so happy and grateful to welcome our third son into the family. This day both we and his big brothers have longed for. Now we look forward to getting to know and get to know our new family member, said the newlywed father of three after having his third son with his wife.
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have previously had sons Alexander and Gabriel, who were born in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
