Prince Joachim of Denmark is moving to the United States and will work as a defense industry attaché at the embassy in Washington, Denmark’s Ministry of Defense says.
The prince will take up the new position in Washington in September, says one press release.
– I am proud that I still get the opportunity to represent Denmark internationally in the area of security and defence. Transatlantic cooperation is a high priority area, and I am honored that I am considered qualified for the task, says Prince Joachim.
The position is over three years with the possibility of extension.
Since 2020, he has held a similar position at the Danish embassy in Paris, but announced in November that he would leave the position in the summer.
Last year, a split arose between Prince Joachim and the Danish royal house when Queen Margrethe decided that the prince’s four children should lose their titles as prince and princess. The Queen addressed the conflict during her New Year’s speech, but added that they had spoken together and entered the new year “with new courage”.
