The summer holidays are over for Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella. As third graders, a big change awaits Charlène and Albert’s twins.
Monaco – Even the best times come to an end. After Albert II (65) and Charlène of Monaco (45) spent the summer with their twins Jacques and Gabriella (both 8) on the luxury yacht “Avantage” of the Kazakh oligarch Bulat Utemuratov (65) off Corsica, calls the royal family now has the duty. Charlène and Albert have already completed a real marathon of appointments in the last few days, and school started again in Monaco on September 11th.
Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella are separated – Charlène’s twins are placed in different classes
Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques attend the Catholic private school “François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré” in Monaco; the two are now proud third graders. On the first day of school after the summer holidays, Albert and Charlène from Monaco insisted on accompanying the twins despite their busy schedule. A matter of the heart, especially for Charlène, after all, she had missed Jacques and Gabriella’s very first day of school two years ago because she was stuck in South Africa due to a long-term ear, nose and throat infection.

Afterwards, Charlène of Monaco gave the French newspaper Monaco-Morning an interview in the palace in which the princess gives insights into her twins’ new everyday life. “On this back-to-school morning, Jacques and Gabriella were both really looking forward to seeing their friends again after such a long vacation. It is also the first time that they are not in the same class. It’s a big step for them,” said Princess Charlène, who supports this decision. “Like all students on the first day of school, they had great expectations: of their new classmates, of their teachers, of what they would wear on that first day.”
Jeans and sneakers: Monaco’s Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella in a casual look back at school
For the first day of school this year, Prince Albert dressed in a dark jacket, a white shirt and gray suit trousers; the head of the Monegasques only went without a tie. Charlène wore a black V-neck sweater with wide-leg paisley print trousers from Etro that cost just under 1,400 euros. The twins were dressed much more casually. The red polo shirt with the school emblem is part of the school uniform, Princess Gabriella wore blue jeggings and black sneakers, while Hereditary Prince Jacques combined his shirt with black pants and dark blue sneakers. “Just two more school children whose parents enable them to live as normal a life as possible,” praises one user.

Last year, Charlène of Monaco had her own Instagram account @HSH Princess Charlene posted a picture of the twins on the first day of school, and she wrote: “They are growing so quickly.” But in the meantime, fans have to do without personal snapshots of the princess, because in August Charlène’s Instagram profile was deleted without comment. The Monegasque palace has now put the photos of Gabriella and Jacques’ first day of school as third graders online.
It is therefore clear why the twins stay behind when Charlène travels from Monaco to South Africa. Charlène’s foundation, the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation South Africa (PCMFSA), will host the Water Bike Challenge from September 15 to 17, 2023 at the Sun City Leisure Complex. Prince Albert will accompany his wife to South Africa, but the strain of traveling so soon after starting school is too much for Jacques and Gabriella, which is why they are holding down the fort in Monaco.
