Elaph: Britney Spears’ memoir The Woman in Me was officially released just over a week ago, and although it has sold a surprising number of copies, Prince Harry’s memoir is still outselling it.
“I poured my heart and soul into my memoir, and I am grateful to my fans and readers around the world for their unwavering support,” Spears said in a statement released Wednesday by Simon & Schuster Book Fair.
The release reveals that “The Woman in Me” has sold 1.1 million copies in the US – including print books, pre-sales, e-books and audiobooks.
And while Britney’s numbers may seem staggering, Prince Harry’s book “Spare” sold 1.6 million copies in the US in its first week.
It is noteworthy that on the night of the release, Britney took to social media to claim that her book was the “best-selling celebrity memoir in history.”
However, Britney has done little to promote her book…so the number is impressive regardless.
Her email exchange with People magazine was the only one-on-one interview she gave about the book…the rest was up to her social media posts. This is the decision Britney has made…she just doesn’t want to do any more interviews.
However, the book itself came with plenty of headlines, including bombshells about her relationship with Justin Timberlake — and pushing her to have an abortion — as well as claims about her family and her time in conservatorship.
