“The investigation has the highest priority and we call on everyone to share as much information as possible regarding the abuse,” African Parks said. The non-profit organization manages 22 national parks and protected areas in 12 countries. Prince Harry is still listed as a member of the board after serving as chairman for six years. He and his wife Meghan Markle are involved through their Archewell Foundation.
The guards – who are paid by the charity – are accused of assault and battery, raping and torturing indigenous people in Congo’s rainforests. The allegations came to light when an anonymous board member of African Parks sounded the alarm at Survival International, an organization that promotes the rights of indigenous peoples in various countries. A statement from the African Parks board said it has a zero-tolerance policy against abuse and is committed to upholding the rights of local people.

The organization says an investigation was launched after an unnamed board member was notified of allegations of abuse by another non-profit organization Survival International. But Survival International itself would not cooperate in the investigation.
A spokesperson for Prince Harry’s Archewell said: “When the Duke of Sussex became aware of these serious allegations, he immediately passed them on to the CEO and Chairman of the Board of African Parks, who are the appropriate people to take the next steps .” Caroline Pearce, director of Survival International, believes Prince Harry should take matters into his own hands. “The Duke can help to stop this suffering,” it said. “We call on him to resign.”
