Prince Harry will not be joined by his wife, Meghan Markle, on his birthday trip away, it has been reported.
The Daily Express yesterday revealed that the Duke of Sussex has organised a birthday getaway to the Californian mountains near his home with a few of his closest mates.
Harry, who will turn 40 this Sunday, September 15, will celebrate his birthday with his family and friends in Montecito, California, where he resides with the Duchess of Sussex and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
But after his birthday celebrations in Montecito are over, he is set to go on a trip with his closest pals to the Montecito peak, which is part of the Cold Spring Trail in California.
A source told Express.co.uk: “The Cold Spring Trail has lots of streams and pools which people regularly take a dip in. But there are also lots of snakes and other wildlife to contend with, like large cats. Harry and his friends will truly experience the outdoors as they take on one of the long hikes. Let’s hope he’s taking an experienced guide with him.”
Now The Sun has also reported that Meghan will not be included in the close-knit group set to tackle the Californian mountains.
The Duchess is expected to stay at home with Archie and Lilibet.
It comes as the Duke recently told People magazine ahead of his birthday that the best gift he’s ever received is his children.
He told the outlet through his spokesperson: “The best gift I’ve ever been given is, without doubt, my kids.
“I enjoy watching them grow every single day and love being their dad.”
Harry is thought to be excited about what the future in his forties will unfold and eager to pursue his life’s passion projects, like the Invictus Games and the Archewell Foundation.
It comes as Netflix recently released the trailer for Harry’s latest project, a show called POLO, which is set to hit the screens later this year.
The show will give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport, which is very close to the Duke’s heart.
