The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, revealed in an exclusive interview with ABC News that he rushed to London to see his father, King Charles, shortly after learning about his cancer diagnosis.

During the interview, the prince expressed his gratitude for the time he spent with his father, despite the circumstances, during their brief meeting in London.

Prince Harry, however, remained tight-lipped about the details of King Charles’ condition, stating that it “stays between me and him.”

Considering US Citizenship and Love for Family

The Duke of Sussex also disclosed that he had contemplated pursuing US citizenship. He expressed his love for the United States, where he currently resides with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children.

While Prince Harry confirmed that he adored his family, he also admitted that he had thought about becoming a US citizen, but it was not currently a top priority.

During the interview, Prince Harry acknowledged the significant role that the close-knit nature of families plays in times of illness or health concerns, saying, “Any illness, any sickness, brings families together.”

The prince assured that he intends to visit the UK frequently, stating, “I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

Life in California and Children’s Influence

Prince Harry professed his fondness for life in California and credited his children’s sense of humor for helping him and Meghan stay grounded.

When asked if he “felt American” and if he would consider pursuing US citizenship, Prince Harry acknowledged that the idea had crossed his mind but was not currently a top priority.

Prince Harry’s interview took place amid the announcement that King Charles would be withdrawing from public-facing duties to focus on his cancer treatment. It was also his first interview following Prince Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back as senior royals in 2020.

Implications for the Royal Family and Public Engagements

As King Charles paused his public-facing duties, other senior royals, including Queen Camilla and Prince William, took on some of his responsibilities for various events.

Meanwhile, the Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, has recently been rebranded to reflect their new role following their departure from the senior royal family.

On a separate note, Prince William, the President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), is expected to attend the forthcoming BAFTA film awards, while the Princess of Wales, who recently underwent abdominal surgery, has since returned home to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, where she resides with their three children.
