Prince Harry join the voice after the news Afghanistan fell into the hands of the Taliban has been in the news since the weekend. He himself had served in the country for two years while still serving in the British army.
In a joint statement with the head of the Invictus Games Foundation, Lord Allen, and the CEO of Invictus Games, Dominic Reid, Harry, who also co-founded the event for veterans, touched on the situation in Afghanistan.
“What happened in Afghanistan resonates throughout the international Invictus community,” the statement read AND on Tuesday (17/8).
“Many countries and competitors participating in the Invictus Games family are bound by the shared experience of serving in Afghanistan over the past two decades, and for several years, we have competed alongside the Invictus Games Afghanistan Team,” the statement continued.

Harry is known to have served in the British army for 10 years. During this period of service, he was stationed in Afghanistan for two years.
Not only through the Invictus Games, Harry also touched on the situation in Afghanistan in a joint statement with his wife, Meghan Markle, through their foundation: the Archewell Foundation.
In the statement released Tuesday (17/8), Harry and Meghan also touched on the natural disasters of the earthquake and tropical storm in Haiti, and the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
“As we all feel many layers of pain because of the situation in Afghanistan, we are left speechless,” the two wrote in the statement.
“When someone or a community suffers, some of us feel it with them, whether we realize it or not,” they continued while inviting all parties to be involved in humanitarian action.
The Taliban had previously declared the war in Afghanistan was over after the group occupied the presidential palace in Kabul on Sunday (15/8).
“Today is a big day for the Afghan people and the mujahideen (Taliban). They are witnessing the fruits of their 20 years of efforts and sacrifices,” the spokesman for the Taliban’s Political Office, Mohammad Naeem, told Al-Jazeera, quoted by Reuters on Monday (16/16). /8).
It then said, “Thank you, God. The war in this country is over.”
Naeem later said that the Taliban would set up a new form of government in Afghanistan once they came to power. He said the Taliban wanted to build international relations and did not live in isolation.
