Queen Elizabeth was buried on Monday 19 September. She died on Thursday 8 September and the news left a whole world in mourning. It was especially difficult for the queen’s close relatives.
Something that has received attention is whether Prince Harry should be allowed to wear a military uniform. He served for ten full years and traveled with two contingents to Afghanistan.
The prince lost his military titles when in 2020 he withdrew from his royal duties, and therefore basically cannot wear a uniform. However, an exception was made for a vigil in Westminster Hall when the queen’s coffin was there.
When Prince Harry received his uniform before the wake, he noticed that the Queen’s initials “EIIR” had been removed from his shoulders. According to the British newspaper, she will The Times was both crushed and humiliated.
–
– He’s devastated. Removing his grandmother’s initials seems very deliberate, he told the newspaper a source listed as one of the prince’s friends.
Now royal expert and author Penny Junor said the initials had been removed. You react strongly to these elections, you write People.
Junor does not hide that he thinks it is disappointing that Prince Harry has been stripped of the “EIIR” mark on his shoulder.
– I think it was not necessary, he says and continues:
– It doesn’t look good, whatever is right or wrong according to protocol.
–
The initials “EIIR” stood for “Elizabeth II Regina”, which is the name of the queen and the Latin word for queen.
Junor adds that she is sure the royal family did not want the headlines to be about Prince Harry and Meghan and that everyone agreed that the wake was not about them.
