The interview with the Hungarian-Canadian doctor Gabor Maté (79), for whom tickets were sold, lasted over an hour and creates a new round of headlines around the world for the still bookish Prince Harry (38).

TMZ mentions, among other things, how Maté hands out diagnoses to Harry on the spot, including ADHD, post-traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety and depression.

According to TMZ, the doctor points out that much of this stems from Harry’s childhood, and that his mother’s early death has been a major factor.

Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, fleeing photographers on motorbikes.

In the interview, Harry himself will show that his personal therapist has already diagnosed him with post-traumatic stress syndrome.

Open about drugs

Harry has attracted enormous attention with his autobiography “Spare”, which will be titled “In the shadow” when it comes out in Norwegian in April.

In the interview with the doctor, he allegedly insists that he is not opening up because he is a victim or wants sympathy, but instead he must be firm in his belief that what he tells can be of help to others.

Harry must be aware that life as a royal has “held him back”, and that he now lives a more “authentic” life.

In the interview, he also talks about his relationship with drugs.

According to Mirror isn’t that excited about cocaine, and says he didn’t get much out of it.

– It was more of a social thing, says Harry, who points out that it gave him a sense of belonging.

– It also made me feel different than I felt before, which is in a way the point.

About cannabis, he says:

– Marijuana is different, it actually helped me.

The duke tells accordingly Irish News also about the use of psychedelics such as the South American brew ayahuasca.

– I would say that it is one of the fundamental parts of my life that changed me and helped me cope with the trauma and pain of the past.

The doctor Gabor Maté must have extensive experience with trauma, growing up and the connection between these.

He has also published a book in which he goes in depth into the types of trauma people with substance abuse disorders suffer from, and how this affects their decisions later in life.

According to TMZ, it appears from the interview with Harry that the prince should have recommended the “family” – presumably the royal family, not Meghan and the children – to go to therapy, as he himself has done.

However, the outcome is said to have been a greater distance between Harry and the other British royals.
