Prince Harry compared life as a royalty to the “Truman Show” and “living in a zoo”.
The Duke of Sussex said during an episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast that he had repeatedly considered leaving the royal life after turning 20. He spoke candidly with host Dax Shepard about keeping his relationship with Megan Markle a secret and dealing with British media attention.
Harry thinks his life was like Jim Carrey’s The Truman Show (1998). The film tells the story of Truman Burbank, whose life is broadcast on television through hidden cameras as the character encounters people who are hired actors.
The aristocrat also said that this was a heavy burden for him and that he tried his best to cope with the fact that he was a member of the British royal family. He does not hide his fears that his wife Megan and their son Archie will face the great attention to which his mother, Princess Diana, was during her lifetime.
Lady Dee died in 1997 at the age of 36 in a car accident while being chased by paparazzi in Paris.
“I don’t want this job, I don’t want to be here, I don’t want to do this. Look what happened to my mother“says Harry, 36.
According to him, he wants to “interrupt the cycle of genetic pain and suffering“of royal upbringing when raising her own children. Harry and Megan are expecting a second child, a baby girl.
In a previous interview, the prince revealed that the royal family cut him off financially in early 2020, after he announced plans with his wife to give up the roles of high-ranking members, reminds BTA. However, Harry managed to provide security for his family with the money left by his mother.
Harry and Megan’s resignation began last year because of what they described as raids by the British media and a racist attitude towards the Duchess. He criticized some US media, but said they were an “improvement” over those in the UK.
Prince Harry also said he felt freer after he and his family moved to California.
“Living here now, I can raise my head and actually feel different“Harry shared, adding that he could take his son Archie on bike rides.
“One can walk, feeling a little freer“says Harry.
